The purpose of this project was to design for six graduate students a living space using five 40 ft. shipping containers whose integrity had to be kept intact.
The entire composition of these five containers had to have an eating space, a lounge, bedrooms as well as a communal reading space where the students could interact in form of discussions away from the solitary reading spaces in their rooms.

The challenge however was that one container was too long and for that matter, reduction of this circulation distance was paramount.
The composition had to be designed with human anthropometrics and ergonomics in mind considering the confined dimensions of the container, this meant that every inch of space had to be accounted for while at the same time leaving room for aesthetic and insulation fittings.
While experimenting with different compositions of the containers, it was also key to be aware of the external spaces being formed by each composition. This allowed for usable external spaces such as the communal meeting area which was shaded by the floor of one container. The viewing decks were also strategically placed as they are easily accessible and enable viewing of the sports fields.
